Philippines’ Ambassador to Austria visits CTBTO Station, radiation facilities

Witnessing the country's steadfast role in spreading and ensuring the safe and peaceful uses of the Atom, Philippine Ambassador to Austria Evangelina Lourdes A. Bernas was joined by officials from the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI) as she visited several key facilities in the field of nuclear science and technology.

These include the PHP52 radionuclide monitoring station under the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) and the recently established ISI E-BEAM commercial irradiation facility, both located in Tanay, Rizal.

The ambassador, who also serves as the Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), also visited the recently revived Philippine Research Reactor - 1 Subcritical Assembly for Training, Education and Research (PRR-1 SATER), as well as the PHILGamma and Electron Beam facilities at the PNRI compound in Diliman, Quezon City.
