The GR 256,  RS230 and RS-330S gamma ray spectrometers are used for the following applications:

  1. Geological mapping (lithologic and structural)
  2. Radiogenic mineral exploration (uranium, thorium etc.)
  3. Hydrothermal alteration detection (porphyry copper-gold, volcanogenic massive sulphide and epithermal gold deposits are often associated with K enrichment of the host rock)
  4. Radiogenic and chemical element pollution studies, and
  5. Superficial structural discontinuity detection
