DOST-PNRI celebrates International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Women in Nuclear represent! The DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute joined the global celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 12.
The program began in the afternoon with "Mare, Spill the S&Tea!" a talk show on the daily lives and thoughts of women of all ages working in nuclear science and related or supporting fields, hosted by PNRI Deputy Director Dr. Vallerie Samson and Ms. Michelle Arispe of the PNRI Library.
With leading scientists sitting up close with the most promising and freshest faces among the Institute's researchers and staff, the guests had a good time sharing each other's life experiences, challenges and the ups and downs both in the laboratory and in the office during the show's various segments.
At the end of the program, stalls were opened as a special treat to all the employees at the PNRI lobby, serving an assortment of classic Filipino snacks and street foods.
The International Day of Women and Girls in Science is an initiative by the United Nations to promote as well as to raise awareness on the growing role of women and girls in the various scientific fields, ultimately aiming towards full and equal access for women.
