DOST-PNRI at HANDA Pilipinas 2023 - Luzon Leg
Showcasing the contributions of nuclear and radiation applications in disaster preparedness, the Department of Science and Technology - Philippine Nuclear Research Institute featured its various technologies at the HANDA Pilipinas 2023 Luzon Leg from July 27 to 29, 2023 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.
Among these technologies are radiation-processed hemostats for bleeding control, nuclear analytical techniques such as isotope hydrology for studying environmental samples and assisting in water resources management, and the establishment and operation of various radiation monitoring stations in the Philippines.
PNRI experts were also among the spekers in several forums held during the exhibit, with topics such as the establishment and operation of several radiation monitoring stations in the Philippines and an introduction to the basic concepts of nuclear and radiological emergency preparedness and response.
HANDA Pilipinas: Innovations in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Exposition is an annual event by DOST which brings the latest technologies related to risk reduction and management, disaster preparedness, response, rehabilitation and recovery closer to stakeholders such as local government units, law enforcement and military personnel involved in disaster operations, and the general public.
This year, HANDA will have multiple legs across the country, the first of which started in Luzon with the theme "Risk Reduction in Megacities" which coincides with the National Resilience Month.
