The Department of Science and Technology: Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (DOST-PNRI) will spearhead the 48th Atomic Energy Week (AEW) celebration on 7-11 December 2020.

This year’s celebration focuses on enhancing public awareness on breakthroughs in nuclear research, beneficial uses of nuclear science and technology, advances in radiation technology, and safety in undertaking activities involving radioactive materials. In line with these, PNRI will hold a Nuclear Video Making Contest (NVMC 2020).

Objective

To promote awareness and understanding of nuclear science and technology and its practical applications among high school students.

 

Participation

The contest is open to all enrolled high school students from public and private schools in the Philippines. A team shall be composed of an individual or a group of a maximum of 3 members. The PNRI will accept one entry per school only.         

 

Mechanics

1. Create a short video from 5 to 7 minutes long that will showcase your interpretation of the AEW theme: “Agham at Teknolohiyang Pangnukleyar: Sandigan ng Kalusugan, Kaayusan, Kabuhayan at Kinabukasan.” It can be in the form of a documentary, short story, music video, animation, and the like. It can also be in Filipino or English.

 

2. Upload your video on YouTube and submit to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. together with the filled Registration Form (revised form) on or before December 1st (Tuesday) until 11:59 PM.

The video must be UNLISTED/PRIVATE (people who only know the link to the video can view it and not appear in any of YouTube’s public spaces).

 

3. Entries are judged based on the following criteria

  1.  Content (20%). In line with the theme, as stated above.
  2. Impact (20%). The video should have a powerful effect on the viewer.
  3. Relevance (20%). The video must be relevant to the Philippines’ situation and context.
  4.  Creativity & Originality (20%). The video must be original and visually stimulating.
  5.  Popularity (20%). The number of likes (see no. 4)

 

4. The top ten (10) shortlisted videos or entries will be uploaded on the official DOST-Philippine Nuclear Research Institute Facebook page. The entries will be ranked based on the number of “likes” and the corresponding points will be added to the scores of the judges. Voters must first “like” the official DOST-PNRI Facebook page before casting their votes (like and vote).

Top 5 Semi-finalists          P 3,000.00/each

 

7. Submitted videos will become properties of the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute and will be used to promote PNRI advocacy on the beneficial applications of nuclear science and technology and radiation safety. All work is given credit to the creators.

 

8. Winners are announced on December 11th during the AEW 2020 Closing Ceremony and on the official DOST-PNRI Facebook page (facebook.com/PNRIDOST)

 

9. The decision of the board of judges will be final and unappealable.
